Covered California plans generally cover TMS for depression, not PTSD directly. However, many PTSD patients are eligible when depression is a coexisting condition.
Value Options covers TMS treatment when it is used to treat major depressive disorder. PTSD is not yet approved as a standalone diagnosis for coverage, but co-occurring depression may qualify.
TriWest covers TMS under depression treatment guidelines. While PTSD itself is not yet covered, patients may still qualify if major depression is also diagnosed.
TriCare covers TMS for depression only at this time. PTSD patients may be approved if they also meet criteria for treatment-resistant depression.
